When the very cool, beautifully edgy, Buzzfeed approached me about contributing for their innovative gift wrap edition of Craft Wars, I was all like, "Rad!" "Seriously?" and "Like, Tooooootally!" ;)
My inner valley girl reactions, by the way, are not too far off from the official "reaction button" options you'll be given at the end of the Craft Wars post!
"Like total craft FAIL, people, or what?"
Seriously--I was all over the Craft Wars thingie. Check out my project and leave a comment if you like it!
Ready to get started right away? Here's how:
brown Kraft paper
hot glue gun and glue sticks
Wrap your gift in brown Kraft paper.
Tie white yarn around your gift as you normally would in tying a bow but snip off the excess yarn once you tie a knot.
Continue to tie the yarn around the gift but make sure that each time you make a cross you do so in another area on the gift.
You could also do this (tying in different sections over and over again) continuously without stopping and cutting new thread if you use a long piece of yarn.
Next, add pom-poms using a very small dab of hot glue to different cross-sections of the yarn or along the lines of the yarn. There are so rules here (think: modern art fun) so just use your eye and go for it.
You're finished and now your holiday gifts are wrapped! Go celebrate!
