documenting our mornings
I have started a project this school year and it goes something like this:
Each morning before we pile into the car for school, I snap a picture.
It's become a routine but I never force anyone to participate. So, some days I take a picture of the whole crew and some days only a few or maybe just two want to have their picture taken. It's been fun to look back at all of the pictures since the start of the school year and I hope to keep up with this until the year's end.
One thing I want to tell you about about having a (relatively) big family: mornings are really hectic and sometimes I wonder if we will make it to school on on time. But lo and behold--so far we've always made it on time!
In the mornings before school, sometimes the kids argue with each other or protest getting ready ("I don't want a baaaaath" or "I've already brushed my teeeeeth!" or "She's wearing my sooooocks!") but for whatever reason the moment we step outside and head to the car, my crew becomes a team. And any conflict that might have happened inside, brushes off of everyone as we walk out the door.
That dynamic is one that I have observed with delight because nothing warms my heart like seeing my kids help each other along--and with kindness.
Happy weekend, friends. Do you have big weekend plans?

Thanks Shannon!
Just a restful weekend for us, which is good because next weekend will be anything but!
Your family is darling. I love the photos.
=)
I love how when once they step out the door to face the world, they do so as a team. That says a lot.
I love that they get along once outside. Great memories captured.
