This weekend, I started thinking about how funny it is that art can seem intimidating. So, it was my absolute delight when I found this awesome tutorial (from awhile back) on Oh Happy Day that shows you, step by step, how to make your own abstract art.
I thought about how part of the problem with people (including myself) hesitating about making their own art is that they (we) are afraid to go big.
What if it turns out crummy?
What if I don't like it?
So then I thought, why don't we just start...
very small.
Mini artwork is the perfect solution!
So this weekend since a couple of us were under the weather (and the weather was a record breaking above 100 degrees HOT) we laid low and made mini abstract art! We used the Oh Happy Day technique, but we also experimented with dot art using erasers and other round objects to stamp paint onto our canvas.
How about you? Would you want to make your own art? If you did would you hang it?

I've hung the kids art work on canvas. I'll have to check out the tutorial.
You're right! Mini-art seems less intimidating, somehow.
I have tried to make my own art, and it doesn't go well. I may be a hopeless case in that regard...
(my art teachers thought so)
;)
I love this idea! I think I'll walk down to the art store and grab three mini canvases, a perfect family project for our Wednesday off! I won't definitely hang them up. I love how yours turned out.
