love

We have a bedtime routine where we read a story and talk about the day each night. Sometimes this portion of my day is hectic and overwhelming and sometimes it is the best time of the day. But no matter what, I like to end the day on a good note. Snuggling, reading and chatting usually does the trick!

The other day as I tucked my oldest daughter into bed she told me she had something to tell me. She shared with me that she said a prayer and she told me and she was certain that God had answered her prayer.

"He told me things, Mommy," she said,
"He said a story to me in my mind."

So naturally, I asked her to tell me about it and this is what she said,

"Well, I asked God to tell me about the earth and why He made it. Then I closed my eyes and I saw the earth and I saw trees, " she told me.
I asked her what happened next and she said,

"Well, then I saw people and God told me that He made people because He just wanted to love them. "
She smiled and we hugged. I told her I loved her and she went to sleep.

Now, never in my life, in my spiritual journey here on earth and in my Christian faith have I felt more convinced than in that moment, of this simple truth:

we were all created to be loved

Every single one of us.

Last month on Earth Day that same daughter of mine brought home a poster she made in class with a paper earth pasted on the top.

When asked to complete the sentence at the bottom of the poster,
"I will help the Earth by..."
she wrote,
" being kind to others. "

I couldn't agree more.

I love her. And I believe her. God does answer prayers.

Rebecca, I do too.

I actually debate writing this because it was such a beautiful and private moment. But in the end it was too beautiful not to share. And it was almost not something I couldn't share.

Love to you and yours, friend. :)

So beautiful and sweet! I just love when they give us a glimpse into their tender little minds. They hear God more clearly, I believe.

What a sweet moment! Your little one will do great things for his kingdom... she listens to his spirit. What a gift!
