Make: Foil and Glitter Crowns (For Everyday or a Special Day)

If you check in here from time to time, you might be wondering where I was this week!Well,  I was under the weather with a fever and as you can imagine, when Mama is sick, things tend to go to the wayside!
The kids were so sweet and brought me lots of water while I had a fever and of course my husband pitched in full force with the laundry and other essentials while I was getting back on my feet!
All is well now with a fixed AC, dishwasher and fresh-faced Mommy!
Whew!

On a different note:

I have a theory that if we spend quality time with our children we are telling them with our actions that they matter. That they are important. That they are awesome and that they are loved.

Today some friends and I got together and had our girls make these little crowns.
My friends thought his would be a great craft for a birthday party and I think so too!

Want to try it out?
Here's How:
Materials:
Aluminum Foil
Thin Cardboard
Glitter
White Glue
Clear Tape
Grosgrain Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Stick

Step 1:
Using thin cardboard (such as that of a cereal box) draw the shape of a crown with a marker and cut it out.
Step 2:
Cover the cardboard in aluminum foil using tape on the backside to tape the foil edges down.
Step 3:
Hot glue a grosgrain ribbon (long enough to tie around your child's head) along the front of the foiled crown.
Step 4:
(This is the part where the children come in) Using white glue and glitter have the child decorate the crown by painting the foiled crown (on the side where the ribbon is glued) with white glue and then sprinkle with glitter!
Step 5:
Allow your crowns to dry and then tie them around the child's head (tie in back).

Now take a bow you are a STAR!
And nothing makes me more happy than seeing glittering crowns on little stars!

What makes you happy?
Go here and share!

I really love this crown! And, I think I have everything to make it....our ribbon isn't as thick but I think if I do two ribbons, one on the very bottom and one about an inch up from the very bottom it should work!

I love the idea of making crowns with your kids. And the time spend doing it DOES make them feel like queens.

=)

PS. Glad to hear you are feeling better!

What a terrific DIY project! Because what little kid doesn't need their very own crown? We put a link to your blog on our facebook page and I'll surely be making this with my son this weekend. He's king of our house anyway, may as well make it official. Thank you for the great idea!

Because of you I've started saving and buying so many random pieces of craft items in the hopes that I'll be able to have a wonderful rainy day project with my grandkids one day a la Caroline!
