DIY Design Trend: Solid Painted Figurines

Idea:
Making Mod your Kitschy Figurines

All good trends basically start from a new perspective, right?
Well, lately I am enjoying the solid painted figurine trend that I've seen around and its inspired me to paint something of my own. I thought this idea would be perfect for my deck garden! So, I found a steal of a deal on a kitschy little garden Gnome ($2!) and turned it into something fun for an outdoor space.

I obviously wouldn't use this technique on a valuable antique--but a dollar store-ish figurine?
Absolutely!

Here are some other ideas that I have seen around and about:

Gnome-lovers everywhere, please don't send the hate mail to me for this one:

1.
First, I laid down newspaper for the set-up
2.
Then I sprayed my little guy in high gloss white paint
3.
Lastly, I allowed him dry then sent him to the deck garden for some much needed chilling.
(optional step: splay with clear coat sealer)

Well folks, it just goes to show that you never know what crazy stuff you'll find when you stop by over here!

What a fantastic idea and it looks so cool. I totally want one of those next to my entry door. Love how creative you are, darling. Btw: thank you so much for your sweet comments. They always make my day:) Happy Wed!

My favorite is the one from Apartment Therapy.

I think I like the lamp better in color best though..........but that's just me.

The garden gnome is very cute!

We have a gnome just like the one in your picture. (He points the way to the magic tree!)

Your white one is cute, too.

=)

I liked the gnome before, but he's pretty neat after, too!
