Straw Painting with the Kids

All you need: Straws. Paint. Paper. Cookie Sheet.

This weekend was a good, lazy weekend full of nice weather and a desire from everyone in the house to just chill and enjoy quality family time.
That's my kind of weekend!

Sunday we experimented with the "Idea Challenge" suggestion given to me by Diana

Using art paper placed in cookie sheets, we squeezed out some Tempura paint and blew the paint around with straws. Not only did it create a super cool effect, but it was a nice little science lesson.

Here, in pictures, you can see our project. I had to help the girls blow the paint a little (perhaps I should have added more water) but they got the idea, and had fun with a little "right-brain" time.

Thanks again, Diana!

If you try this with your kids (or any other creative project), be sure to let me know so I can post about it or link-up to your post and let my readers know about your adventure!

This reminds me of painting with marbles.....you just dip a few marbles in paint and drop them on the paper that's set up in a cookie sheet or other pan with sides that the paper fits in and you just sort of tilt the cookie sheet side to side and however which way you choose......

Which reminds me of painting with bubbles.........you add a few drops of food coloring to the bubble solution and set the papers either on the ground outside or hang them up on a clothes line and blow bubbles that have food coloring in it at the paper

Which also reminds me of painting with hot wheels.....just set up a plate of paint and let the kids dip hot wheels in the paint and then roll over a piece of paper to leave tire tracks....

Which reminds me of........just kidding, nothing else is in my brain right now
